THE LOST BOYS OF CARBIS BAY
motion design & animation
“Cornish lads are fishermen, and Cornish lads are miners too, but when the fish and tin are gone, what are the Cornish boys to do?”
The Lost Boys of Carbis Bay is a 30-minute documentary, directed by Dan Simpkins, that follows a daring band of explorers embarking on a quest to uncover the forgotten history of Cornish mines, only to unearth an unexpected journey of self-discovery.
Untouched for decades and supported by crumbling hundred-year-old timber beams, the mines hold untold secrets and a path to more than just history.

The Carbis Bay Crew, while struggling to come to terms with changes in their lives, show how we’re all looking for an escape from the trials of everyday life. Transcending mere adrenaline urges, the group becomes a vital means of connection and understanding, underscoring the importance of community in our lives.
The Lost Boys of Carbis Bay is premiering at Kendal Mountain Festival 2025.
